Term 2
| This term, our 6th class pupils have been very busy and engaged in a wide range of exciting activities. We confidently organised and performed a Seó Faisin as Gaeilge, showcasing both our language skills and creativity. In history, we presented excellent projects on World War 2, demonstrating great research and presentation skills. We have also started learning French as part of the ‘Say Yes to Language Programme.’ We have embraced learning a new language with enthusiasm. We marked World Book Day with a celebration of reading and storytelling, highlighting our love of books. As part of our faith journey, we took part in the Ceremony of Light and have been busy preparing for our upcoming Confirmation. |
We joined up with 2nd class and had lots of fun reading for each other to mark this year’s World Book Day.
Christmas Fun
| 6th Class have had a great start to the new school year. In September we learned all about local history and we went on an enjoyable field trip to Meehambee Dolmen with Martin Curley. We studied Pablo Picasso in Art and recreated his ‘Blue Guitar’ and ‘Cubism Portraits.’ We also learned about Eoin O’Connor’s works too. Micheál Glennon has been coaching tag rugby every week and we have shown a great improvement in our skills. We also have a newly elected Student Council that will represent the students. Lots of children in both classes gave excellent presentations to their peers and eight pupils were elected. Congratulations to Aaron, Josh, Katie, Cara, Holly, Dylan, Sarah and Lara and they have been doing a great job the past few weeks. Active breaks and brain breaks have been a big hit with 6th class! The students love taking a few minutes to move, recharge, and refocus before getting back to learning. Finally, we are enjoying integrating orienteering with Irish as part of CLIL and have recently built up lots of vocabulary for directions and symbols as Gaeilge which we have used in fun orienteering activities. |
