Fourth Class 2025/26

Term 2

4th Class have had a very busy and productive term. In English, pupils worked on procedural writing, and even extended this learning to Gaeilge, which was a fantastic achievement. They also collaborated with 1st Class, taking part in fun procedural-based games, building both teamwork and communication skills. In Geography, pupils created excellent project presentations on Italy and Japan, showcasing their research and creativity. In History, they explored the lives of inspiring figures including Amelia Earhart, Daniel O’Connell, and Princess Hase of Hime, Japan. In Maths, the classes engaged with the topic of transformations developing their understanding through hands-on and interactive activities. Our regular library visits have also supported a growing love of reading. Creativity has been on full display in Art, with beautiful Spring Tulips and Japanese Garden scenes created using chalk and pastels. In Science, the class explored magnetism and forces through engaging experiments and investigations. Well done to all of Fourth Class for a fantastic term of learning, effort, and creativity.

Christmas Fun

Fourth Class had an exciting, creative and hard-working start to the year!

In History, the children explored local heritage with Martin Curley on an autumn trail to Mehambee Dolmen, bringing the past to life right on our doorstep.

Science was full of discovery as pupils created working lung models and carried out force experiments, including a toy ramp to test friction and a balloon rocket to investigate thrust.

Our Art lessons were bursting with colour through autumn leaf work in oil pastels and painted seasonal trees. Wellbeing, PE and the Skipathon have been enjoyed so far also. In English, the class enjoyed learning and performing new poems with great expression and enthusiasm. In Geography, we explored the provinces and counties of Ireland and followed the fascinating journey of the River Shannon from source to sea.

Maths involved lots of hands-on strategy work using concrete materials and fun games to build confidence and understanding. Music was another highlight, with everyone enjoying vocal warm-ups, body percussion, rhythm activities and tin whistle practice.

The children put in fantastic effort across every subject and should be very proud of their achievements so far!
