Catholic Schools Week
We celebrated Catholic Schools Week from January 19th–23rd this year. The theme for 2026 was “Normal Lives, Called to Holiness,” which reminds us that holiness can be found in everyday actions — through kindness, helping others and showing care to those around us.
Fr. John began the week by leading a whole-school prayer service in the gym on Monday morning. During the service he spoke to the children about Saint Carlo Acutis, the first millennial saint, whose life shows how young people today can live out their faith in simple and meaningful ways. Each morning Ms. Kelly introduced the day with a short thought for reflection, helping everyone start the day with a positive message. Throughout the week, all classes took part in a range of activities that celebrated and reflected the Catholic ethos that is such an important part of life in our school.
Grandparents Day
Our 5th class will celebrate Grandparents’ Day on March 20th. Grandparents will be warmly invited to visit the classroom and spend some time with the children, sharing stories, memories and their experiences of faith and family life. The pupils will also have the opportunity to show their appreciation for their grandparents and the special role they play in their lives. Afterwards, everyone will be invited to the school hall where we will enjoy some light refreshments and a chance to chat together.
Sacramental Preparations This year is an important one for pupils in 2nd and 6th classes as they prepare to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
FirstConfession
Second class pupils have already begun their preparation for First Confession. The ceremony will take place in the school on Wednesday, March 11th during the school day. We sincerely thank parents for the support and encouragement they provide to the children during this time of preparation.
Confirmation
Sixth class pupils are also busy preparing for their Confirmation. As part of their preparation, they attended the Ceremony of Light on Feb 25th in Ss. Peter & Paul’s church. Each pupil has selected a Confirmation name that is significant to them and has been creating a display to share the story of the saint connected to their chosen name and why it is meaningful to them.
Our Sacred Space
The Sacred Space is a point of focus for pupils’ prayer. It is a centre for reflection and for the children’s work.

Prayers after Communion
Lord Jesus, I love and adore you.
You’re a special friend to me.
Welcome, Lord Jesus, O welcome.
Thank you for coming to me.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, O thank you
For giving yourself to me.
Make me strong to show your love
Wherever I may be.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay
Close by me forever and love me, I pray.
Bless all of us children in your loving care
And bring us to heaven to live with you there.
I’m ready now, Lord Jesus.
To show how much I care.
I’m ready now to give your love
At home and everywhere. Amen.

The Sacrament of Confirmation
Preparation for Confirmation emphasises the graces that the Spirit brings.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
And kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And you will renew the face of the earth.
Lord,
by the light of the Holy Spirit
you have taught the hearts of your faithful.
In the same Spirit
help us to relish what is right
and always rejoice in your consolation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
