First Class 2025/26

Term 2

We had lots of fun in March. As part of their procedural writing, 4th class pupils taught us how to play a variety of fun games.

In Maths, we enjoyed some hands-on learning using metre sticks and rulers to measure all around our classroom and school.

As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, we were treated to a range of Irish activities with our special visitors, Séimí Seamróg agus Óisín. The children enjoyed a tráth na gceist (quiz), a play, céilís, and listening to Irish stories with 5th class.

We also had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day. The children loved sharing their favourite books, showing off their wonderful costumes, and taking part in buddy reading with 5th class. We also created some lovely World Book Day themed art.

World Book Day 2026

This year we joined up with 5th class for our “Paired Reading” session. It was so much fun to hear them read but especially to read to them!

Christmas Fun 2025

First class children have been very busy this term.

We have been very creative; drawing self portraits, creating Eloise Renouf inspired trees and making Halloween monsters.

We’ve been working hard as historians this term. We interviewed our parents or grandparents about their time in school. We got to go on a historic walk with Martin Curley to see the old school and view the Autumn trees.

Ms Connaughton’s class have really enjoyed literacy lift off and Ms Butler’s class are looking forward to starting after mid-term.

We have been wonderful musicians, singing new songs and using musical instruments.

We have had many trips to our school library and have enjoyed playing with the ipads.
