Green and Amber Flags at Cloonakilla NS 2018

The Raising of Our Green and Amber Flags at Cloonakilla NS 2018

On the 25th of October we had a ceremony in school to celebrate raising of our First Amber Flag and our sixth Green Flag. The Amber Flag is flying high to represent the fact that our school promotes positive mental health and wellbeing for all the pupils and staff who come here every day to learn and work. This year’s Green Flag was about increasing our awareness of Global Citizenship. The children worked really hard to prepare for these flags. There was a committee of volunteers working on each of these flags. They created Power Point presentations to show to the parents and our VIP guests, Suzanne Dempsey from Roscommon County Council and Gerard Tiernan from Pieta Midlands. During the day of celebration, there were lots of fun activities organised for the children. Mr O Leochainn gave a workshop about dog litter. Ms Donnelly gave yoga workshops. Invited guest Michael Bell spoke to the children wildlife. The Parents’ Association provided tea and cakes. It was a lovely day!
