December 3rd class

3rd class had a very busy December preparing for our Christmas Concert ‘Ralph the Reindeer’.  We performed  Ciúin. We then treated the audience to a tin whistle recital of Jingle Bells. We also recited the poem ‘Twas the night before Christmas.’ Next came the production of Ralph the Reindeer with everyone in 3rd class playing important roles – narrators, reindeers, elves, Santa Claus, Rudolph and of course Raplh the Reindeer. We learnt a lot of Christmas songs for the play too. We has great fun preparing for the concert and it was a great success!

We also engaged in lots of Christmas art. We used the skill of drawing to create a rudolph picture. We created snowflake art,a christmas scene and of course some Christmas cards.

We have been busy learning about games and pastimes in the past, The Wooden Horse of Troy, the sun, communications and Ireland and its natural features in SESE. We focused on the arrival of baby Jesus during advent. We made advent promises and designed our own advent wreaths
